Make your own muscle cream and body lotion!

Today at work i got the idea to make my own muscle cream and body lotion in the evening,

I trying to choose products that is good for the body and doesn't contain chemicals and toxic.

They are hard to find and usually very expensive. What is not a better way than make it yourself instead. It's a lot cheaper and you know exactly what the product contains, you can choose your favourite oils in one cream :)

Here is a few Ingredients you should watch out for,

  • Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA)

  • DMDM Hydantion

  • Fragrance and parfum

  • Parabens

  • Retinyl Palmitate

  • Triethanolamine

The list can be long ..

As soon as I was finish work today I went down to the health shop Go-vita, I wasn't sure what I exactly needed, but I had a little idea in my head. I got Bees wax, cocoa butter, and few essential oils to the muscle cream and magnesium salt.

After that I went to few other shops to find a jar for the lotions and the rest of the ingredients I had at home.

This is what you need for a body lotion and muscle rub.

Cocoa butter

  • 1/2 Cup Coconut oil

  • 1/4 cup Almond oil

  • 1/2 cup Coca butter

  • 1/4 cup Bees wax

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl,

Let the bowl stand in hot water until everything becomes liquid.

Put it in the fridge until it becomes a bit creamy (10-20 mins.)

Take it out and mix it with a mixer so you get it nice and creamy.

Pour into a glas jar and it is ready to use!

So simple.

Muscle rub

With the muscle rub i did pretty much the same but only had 1/4 cup Cocoa butter instead of 1/2 cup. I also had a little bit of trouble trying to add magnesium crystal salt. You can't melt it and mix it together with the oil because when it have cool down it is going back to hard crystals again, So i actually ended up adding a little bit of my pure magnesium spray (liquid) i have. I never measured how much i added but maybe 1/4-1/2 cup. Mixed that together with the oils, cocoa butter and Bees wax and before i put it in the fridge i added the 4 different essentials oils. And after that same thing as the Cocoa butter lotion, Leave it in the fridge for approx. 10 mins, check if it is creamy, take it out and mix it with a mixer until it is really creamy and nice, pour it into a jar.

Ready to use on your sore muscles!

My pick of essentials oils was, Rosemary, black pepper, lavender and eucalyptus oil. I only used between 5-10 drops from each oil.

They are all good to relieve pain and inflammation for sore muscles and joints.

.

This was my first attempt on muscle rub and body lotion, something i just decided today i wanted to do. I have a couple of other ideas on lotion and muscles rub i wanna make.

Do you guys have any ideas/recipes on your favourite body lotion, muscles rub or other homemade body products?
